NOTTINGHAMSHIRE FIRE & RESCUE SERVICE INVEST IN A DEAF ALERTER DA2000 FOR THEIR NEW BEESTON FIRE STATION

In keeping with Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service’s disability equality scheme and goal to provide equal access/egress for all, it was recognised that not being able to communicate with Deaf members of staff in an emergency, especially in a fire situation was a risk which would have to be overcome.

As expected, Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service places great significance on their legal responsibility under Health & Safety, Disability Legislation and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.  The system selected would have to meet all the same technical standards such as BS5839-1 and EN54 to provide the same equal access/egress and safe evacuation as hearing people receive.

On reviewing available options Deaf Alerter’s DA2000 system was selected, due to the flexibility and functionality offered which surpassed that of any other system evaluated.

Deaf Alerter PLC is extremely proud of their DA 2000 fire alarm warning and messaging system for Deaf and hard of hearing people, which has been selected as the product of choice by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
