Derby City is on the up! More than £2bn is being invested in Derby to ensure that the city matches the quality of its economy.
The huge investment is dramatically improving the look of Derby, which was recently referred to as one of the UK’s fastest growing cities. Jurys Inns is the latest contribution to the master plan development to open its doors to the public, and is a very welcomed facility at that.
The cosmopolitan hotel is situated in the heart of the vibrant and trendy Cathedral Quarter and is the perfect location for business or leisure. The hotel boasts 213 bedrooms with five dedicated conference rooms and aims to become an important partner to local businesses and work closely with the local community.
This is evident in the particular attention that has been given to ensure that the hotel is fully accessible by disabled and non-disabled people alike. Deaf Alerter plc, a local Derby based company has supplied and installed the fire alarm warning and messaging system for Deaf and hard of hearing people in the hotel. The unique radio-based system allows Deaf guests to be safe in all areas of the hotel and with the help of a portable unit called a Night Cradle, Deaf guests can now stay in a room of their choice. This is particularly useful with the Hotel offering excellent views of the city which are not to be missed!
Chris Sharman, Sales Engineer at Deaf Alerter commented: “We have worked in partnership with Jurys Inns for a number of years now, helping them to achieve their goals of providing a safe, secure and welcoming environment for all their guests, and this is something we look forward to continuing for years to come.”

Jurys Inns’ strategic development partner, McAleer and Rushe, has invested £20 million in the hotel and no expense has been spared!
Sean Twohig, Group Safety Manager for Jurys Inns said: “At Jurys we are committed to providing not just a hotel room but an experience, and safety is a priority for all our guests if they’re going to feel comfortable and relaxed. Many of our hotels already have Deaf Alerter installed and the system will feature in all of our new build projects. It is our responsibility to be an accessible hotel chain for all and we are working hard to achieve this.”
