The Hills Preferred Product Awards are part of a campaign to seek and promote the best, most innovative products and practices available today. The awards are open to all manufacturers and distributors of products and processes used in the manufacturing and engineering industry who have launched or made major improvements to a product in the last 12 months and must be able to satisfy at least one or more of the following criteria:
Innovation
Proven health and safety benefits
Reduction of installation time over equivalent products
Availability in quantity at an economic price
Proven environment benefits
Recyclability
Increased life cycle
Reduced WOL costs
Reduced energy consumption
Reduced emissions

Deaf Alerter was found to have satisfied at least one of the above criteria, winning a Preferred Product Award. Deaf Alerter Managing Director Steve Haseldine accepted the award from David Hill, Group Chief Executive of Hills Electrical Plc. The awards ceremony took place on Thursday 14th October 2004 at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Edgbaston and was attended by over 300 people
