Deaf Alerter plc was proud to be one of the organisations in Derbyshire thanked for lending their support to the armed forces at a ceremony in London.
Armed Forces Minister Bob Ainsworth presented certificates to companies who have employees who serve as Army reservists. The event was held at the Ministry of Defence’s main building on Whitehall (in King Henry the Eighth’s wine cellar – deep within the building!) on Monday 20th October 2008.
Martyn Coldicott, Deaf Alerter plc’s Technical Director, attended the SaBRE (Supporting Britain’s Reservists & Employers) event and accepted a certificate on behalf of the company; recognising the company’s commitment to supporting the Reserves of the Armed Forces. Carl Evans, Deaf Alerter plc’s Operations Manager, based at Pride Park, has been a member of the Territorial Army since he joined the company in November 2003.
Mr Ainsworth said: "Mobilisation would not be possible without the full support of employers who release their employees for operations and training. I also think employers recognise the advantages the reservists bring. They bring their skills in the armed forces to their jobs, meaning they are better equipped, their character has developed and their leadership skills have been honed."
In addition, Deaf Alerter plc has endorsed the following statement of support for employees in the Reserve Forces: “Thousands of members of the Reserve Forces (Royal Naval Reserve, Royal Marines Reserve, Territorial Army and Royal Auxiliary Air Force) have been mobilised for full-time service overseas in recent years. When called upon, these men and women serve alongside their colleagues in the Regular Forces with courage and dedication, and often at considerable personal sacrifice. We admire their commitment and are determined to support all current and future employees in the Reserve Forces.”
